“Yellow Muscat with a story – from one vine to an entire vineyard”
Our Yellow Muscat is not just a special wine – it also carries a special story. In fact, it is a unique line that is a real rarity among winemakers. With it, we created an entire vineyard that comes from a single vine.
It started almost romantically – with a single vine. The first year, we collected 20 scions from it, grafted them and got 6 young plants from them. As you know, not everything takes root when grafting, so we were very happy about these six seedlings. We planted them, cared for them and harvested the scions from them again in the fall.
The second year, the number of seedlings increased, and by the third year we had already reached 250. We planted everything carefully – without shortcuts, with a lot of patience and love for viticulture. Today, our vineyard has 8,000 Yellow Muscat vines, all descendants of that first, mother vine.
This Muscat therefore has a special meaning. Every drop carries a piece of this story – a story of growth, patience and dedication. And perhaps that’s why it smells so beautiful, enchants with its delicate aroma and refreshes every moment you open it.
BERCE NATIVE
These are forgotten domestic varieties with exceptional potential, but they require a precise technological process – the only way to produce top-quality wine. We developed the line out of love for the vine, as I come from a vine-growing family, and after five years of hard work, a single vine produces a truly unique wine for true connoisseurs.
During the renovation of the family vineyard, which is 500 years old, a yellow Muscat vine of Matjaž’s grandfather unexpectedly sprouted from the ground – a special variety with golden yellow berries that he brought from an Italian school. Together, we grew our own clone from just 12 grafts, which over time grew into 8,000 vines and produced its first wine in 2000. Today, this unique yellow Muscat, full of tradition, knowledge and love for the vine, celebrates 25 years – just like us.
